In early spring, the School Committee in each of the four districts holds a public hearing about School Choice.
MATTAPOISETT PUBLIC SCHOOLS
The Mattapoisett School Committee held a School Choice Public Hearing on April 13, 2023 and voted to participate in the School Choice Program for the 2023-2024 school year. The School Committee voted to increase the maximum number of school choice slots to fourteen (14), with preference given to Kindergarten and first grade. A lottery was held on Wednesday, May 10th at 1:00 p.m. at Center School. Applications may still be submitted.
OLD ROCHESTER REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Old Rochester Regional School Committee met on March 15, 2023 and voted to participate in the School Choice Program for the 2023-2024 school year. The School Committee voted to maintain the maximum number of school choice slots of one hundred and twenty-five (125) students in grades 7th through 12th for the 2023-2024 school year, capping 7th grade at twenty (20) students, capping 8th grade at twelve (12) students, with the understanding that preference will be given to students entering grades 7, 8 and 9. The School District held the lottery on April 13th.
Marion and Rochester elected not to participate in School Choice for the 2023-2024 school year.
